Stumptown Axes
41" Mann Knot Klipper Warranted - Puget Sound Pattern

The Puget Sound pattern axe is a staple of logging history in the Pacific Northwest. Few patterns capture the heritage the way these pieces do. They were often hung on extremely long thin handles like I have reproduced here. They were needed to stretch the great distance to fell the giant trees that once covered the region. The axe head is unrestored and rich with patina. It's width of 13' 1/8th is very close to full length.
The handle is handmade from hickory with a Jarrah wood palm swell and wedge.
The axe is fully functional but probably better suited as a display piece.
